Abacus designs and develops net-centric ("Internet-like") systems, relational database systems, and systems software.  We configure systems ranging from state-of-the-art architectures dealing with distributed cooperative systems for the International Space Station to middleware special-purpose operating systems for defense applications.  We work with standard protocols, and we develop special systems for distributed and parallel processing.

Abacus writes compilers for all of the major programming languages. Our METAPACK™ (see below) system enables the translation of source code from one language or database system to another.  We originate and design languages for special applications; for example, our SAV-D compiler produces graphics displays on-board the U.S. Space Shuttle and our TCS compiler is used for test and checkout of Shuttle hardware.  We're experts in C++ implementations and utilize the latest methodologies and technologies for Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA / OOD) and the Unified Modeling Language (UML).

We implement database management systems for a wide range of applications, both developing custom data management software for special needs and employing commercially available packages such as Oracle.  Our data management software currently supports a wide variety of applications ranging from financial systems to global seismic monitoring systems.  For example, we built major data management systems for the U.S. Space Shuttle and the NASA VentureStar X-33 futuristic Space Shuttle replacement.  We have expertise in the implementation and utilization of Data Warehouses and OLAP.
